I am very ashamed to admit that I didn’t take Artie’s diaper bag on our first trip to the pediatrician, (when I say I was clueless I really mean it!) and OF COURSE he had a dirty diaper in the doctors office. Since that embarrassing experience I always make sure to leave the house with everything we need. As a new mom you never know what will happen so it is important to be prepared for anything! Here are the 10 things I always keep in my diaper bag so I never have to worry.
I LOVE this pacifier for outings. It is a toy and pacifier all in one! I give it to Artie when he is in his carseat or stroller and am always amazed at how long it keeps him entertained.
These wipes are great for keeping pacifiers, teethers, and bottle nipples clean on the go!
The last thing you want when you’re out and about is a fussy, teething baby. I always keep teethers on hand, like these, to soothe Artie.
I never leave the house without an extra bottle of Gripe Water in our diaper bag. If your child has a meltdown in public Gripe Water is a quick fix! They love the taste and it settles their tummies!
You should always pack at least three outfits! This is probably self explanatory but you can read about our Boutique Blowout here!
Plastic Grocery Bags
If you need the extra outfits you will also need the grocery bags! You can put the dirty outfit in the plastic bag to protect your diaper bag.
I am always thankful to have this baby-safe hand sanitizer when Artie gets his hands on something dirty or is being passed around. There is nothing worse than a sick baby so I try to keep the germs away as much as possible!
You always want to pack a small blanket, like this, in case your baby gets cold, but also so you can lay it down for him to play on the floor.
Diapers and Wipes
These last items on my list seem obvious but I added them because you will be in a mess (literally) if you ever forget them!
Bottles and Formula
When you are breastfeeding you always have your baby’s food with you but otherwise, you want to make sure you have bottles and formula. A hungry baby is never a happy baby!
I also want to mention, in case you are looking for a great diaper bag, I HIGHLY recommend the Ju-Ju-Be diaper backpack. The backpack makes it easy to carry when you have a baby in your arms, it is machine washable, holds everything, and is insulated to keep bottles warm! It also comes with a changing pad so you are always ready for a diaper change, no matter where you are.
I hope this list will help you be more prepared than I was when I became a new mom! If you have any questions or want to let me know about other things you always keep in your diaper bag leave it in the comments below!
