5 Things I Started Doing When I Became A Mom

Having a baby literally changes EVERYTHING! Artie is ten months old and I feel like I have already become an entirely different person. The change has definitely been for the better! These are the things I started doing when I became a mom!

Becoming a mom has completely changed how I see the world, and as a result, I have become the mother my son deserves. I absolutely love being Artie’s mom and I am so happy to be the person I am today.

Having a child forces you to grow up and start doing things that you never considered before. I am excited to share the 5 things I started doing when I became a mom.

Before I became a mom I lived in my own little bubble. There are so many people in the world, I didn’t think my choices and decisions could really make a difference.

Creating a life makes you realize how delicate and precious life really is. That includes the life of our planet! It is so important for each of us to reduce the energy we are using and recycle our used products.

I want Artie’s world to be a great place and have started doing my part to make a difference. Some things I have done are started recycling, using a reusable water bottle, driving less, and stopped using paper products.  Click here for more easy ways you can recycle at home.

Making the Bed

I wasn’t a slob before I had Artie but I definitely had my “lazy days”. In the chaos that is parenting, it is amazing what a difference making your bed can make.

To me, an unmade bed makes my whole day feel messy. Even if I get nothing else done around the house, taking two minutes to make the bed helps me feel more organized.


Before I became a mom I never really had a hobby or anything that I was passionate about. I am not a professional writer and haven’t had any training outside of college English classes.

I never knew how much I would love it, but writing has given me a creative outlet to express how passionate I am about being a mom. I love sharing what I have learned and experienced with other new moms!

Prioritizing My Health

Before I had Artie my health was far from the top of my list of priorities. I had not set foot in a gym in years, and was a frequent fast food consumer.

Now that I’m a mom, I realize how important it is to take care of myself. I’ve started eating better and exercising. Tracking my activity on my Apple Watch helps me be consistent and stay motivated.

My health is important to me, not only so I can live a long, happy life, but so I can set a good example for my son. I want to show him the importance of living a healthy, well-balanced life so he can do the same.


I had a serious case of FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) before I became a mom. I was always on the go and napping was the last thing I would do in my free time.

Now that I have survived those first 6 weeks with my newborn, I appreciate sleep on a whole new level. These days the only FOMO preventing me from napping is Artie’s!
