How To Save Money As A Stay At Home Mom

As stay at home moms, we play a HUGE role in our families. We are the business managers of our homes; maintaining the daily operations, inventory, and demands while also keeping everyone alive! Sometimes this can be easy to forget when you are depending on the paycheck of your spouse. If you ever feel discouraged, remind yourself that you have devoted your life to your family and you are an awesome mama! There are also ways you can contribute to your family financially as a stay at home mom! Saving money is making money, right?! This post explains how to save money as a stay at home mom.

Get Your Money Back

Get money back on purchases you are already making! This age of technology we live in makes it so easy to get money back! Each of these apps offer cash back through PayPal or your choice of gift cards. I actually did ALL OF MY CHRISTMAS SHOPPING with the money I made from these 3 apps!

Ibotta

Ibotta will pay you for your grocery shopping! This app will pay you back for specific purchases. Just select the items you purchased and scan your receipt to get cash back! I earned over $100 in my first 3 months using this app!

Swagbucks

Are you an online shopper? You will LOVE Swagbucks! I get so much money back on my online purchases and it’s so easy to use! Just do your online shopping through your Swagbucks app and receive a percentage back. You may be surprised by how many retailers you can earn cash back from by shopping through Swagbucks, including Amazon, Target, Sam’s Club, and Wal-Mart! You can also earn additional cash on Swagbucks by watching videos and taking surveys!

Ebates

You can receive cash back from Ebates for your online AND in store purchases! To receive a percentage back on your in store purchases just select the discount on your app and link the card you will be shopping with. For my online shopping I compare the percentages to what I will receive from Swagbucks and shop on the higher paying app. Both apps make adjustments to their payouts so check these percentages frequently to make sure you are getting the best deal.

Buy In Bulk

I have saved HUNDREDS this year by buying in bulk to receive wholesale prices at Sam’s Club! After comparing prices to other retailers I found that, depending on the item, their prices are usually the lowest. I get all of Artie’s diapers, wipes, and formula shipped right to my door by ordering online from Sam’s Club. I highly recommend taking advantage of their “Instant Savings” discounts. Sam’s Club has regular promotions where items are discounted on top of their already low prices! This is when I stock up on all of my baby essentials. Sam’s Club also offers huge savings on household items like paper towels, toilet paper, and cleaning supplies!

Eat At Home

You have probably heard this one a million times but you will save SO much money if you stop eating out! You can provide a delicious meal for your family for a much lower cost than you can eating at a restaurant. If you have trouble finding time to cook then you have to try the Instant Pot! It has saved me so much time and effort when preparing meals for my family. It’s so easy to use, just dump everything in and it’s ready in just a few minutes! Why spend more money eating out when you can make enough for two days worth of dinners at home? I mean, who doesn’t love leftovers?!

Grocery Pickup

So many grocery stores now offer grocery pickup and many are doing it for free! You may wonder, how will picking up my groceries save money? Think about it this way, how many impulse purchases do you think you make on one trip to the grocery store? I know I’ve grabbed my share of Doritos in a moment of weakness browsing the chip isle… How many impulse purchases is that in a year? I am sure I have saved hundreds by selecting my purchases online and avoiding extra spending. Not to mention it is so convenient having your groceries loaded into your car, rather than taking your kids into the store!

Eliminate Unnecessary Paper Products

The cost of paper towels, paper plates, and paper cups adds up quickly! You can easily reduce or remove these products from your home. It may not be possible to completely stop using paper towels, but you can significantly decrease their use by using dish towels instead. I have completely eliminated paper plates and cups from my home. Not only does it save our family money, but it’s also better for the environment! You can also save a TON of money by using cloth, reusable diapers!

I hope this post explained everything you need to know on how to save money as a stay at home mom! I’d love to hear your money saving secrets in the comments!  Keep at it Mama, you are doing so awesome!
