What To Pack For The Pool With Your Baby or Toddler

Going to the pool with your baby or toddler can be so fun! Some babies, like mine, just love the water! Artie can’t get enough! We have been at the pool as much as possible this summer and have enjoyed every minute of it. I am excited to share what to pack for the pool with your baby or toddler, so your family can have as much fun as ours has!

You can find printable coloring pages for learning numbers and shapes here! Made for toddlers!

Be warned: there is a LOT more to bring to the pool when you have a little one coming along!

Always practice safety first when you are at the pool with your baby or toddler. Consider visiting a public pool with lifeguards. Check with your pediatrician before bringing your baby to the pool, ours recommended waiting until Artie was six months old.

The most important thing to remember is sunscreen! Protect your baby’s sensitive skin from the sun with this mineral based sunscreen, it’s so easy to apply and tear-free!

Choose a swimsuit that has SPF for additional protection from the sun. Don’t forget to bring your own swimsuit along as well!

Swim Diapers

Your baby’s usual diapers are not going to cut it in the water. I love Pampers Splashers for keeping Artie comfortable when he is splish splashing in the pool!

Float/Swim Trainer

Choose the appropriate flotation device for your child based on their weight. There are so many options for babies and toddlers from lifejackets to puddle jumpers.

These allow your little one more independence in the water but you must monitor your child at all times. Never leave your baby or toddler unattended in or around ANY amount of water.

A hat like this will protect your baby’s scalp from sun exposure, and shield your baby’s eyes from the sun.

Keep your baby hydrated! Whether your baby is drinking formula, breastmilk, cows milk, or water, make sure you bring what they need to stay hydrated.

You don’t want a hungry baby at the pool so pack plenty of snacks!  These pouches are perfect when you are on the go, whether you are out running errands or hanging out at the pool!

Artie loves these teething snacks too! They are an easy snack for him to eat on his own without making a mess.

Don’t forget towels to dry off. The last thing you want is an uncomfortable, wet baby when it is time to leave the pool. Artie looks so comfy when I wrap him up in his hooded beach towel!

Change of Clothes

Pack a change of clothes for your little one and for yourself. I always bring along a plastic bag for our wet clothes.

Diaper Bag

When you bring your baby or toddler to the pool, always hope for the best but prepare for the worst! Bring along your diaper bag so you are ready for anything! You can find 10 Things I Always Keep In My Diaper Bag here!
